DRMO Auction Ft. Lewis Wa. Contact Info

I recently was at Fort Lewis and was able to get the actual info for their DRMO auction location for all of you. This will save a lot of time and hassle trying to wade through all the government website information and weed out the good working info from any that may be outdated. I will include the site manager name as well.

Government Liquidations

Location is building 9870, bay 7

Telephone: 253-966-6372

Lonny Jenkerson

Site Manager

I also will include the government DRMO auction website address for you here so you don’t have to search for it.

Government Auction Website Address

I do hope this update will help you find the auction location you are looking for. The site at Fort Lewis is very active. I saw a lot of goods for sale there of all types.

Some of what I saw, but could not take pictures of due to it being a military base is as follows but not all inclusive.

Speedboats

2 1/2 and 5 ton trucks

Generators

Diesel engines in the crates

Cranes

Tow trucks

Ammo boxes by the pallet, they looked to be .50 cal or about that size

Older cars in various states of repair

Water buffalo trailers

Utility trailers

Humvees, or what they call utility trucks

Tanker trailers

Tires and rim assemblies for various vehicles, a lot of Humvee tires are there

Air conditioning units of various types

They also will have many boxes of scrap metal lying around, I saw huge wooden boxes with scrap aluminum in it and more. There is a lot of stuff at this location, it may be best to use the info given and see what kind of list they can fax you or send you. I would get ahold of the site managers office and see what amount of information they can assist you with so you can get the list and look for your desired items.

It is not uncommon to see boats being deserted in dilapidated conditions or captured because of unlawful activities of owners. The cost of any accident-related damage is paid usually by the insurance to the owner and they are in a dilemma about what to do with the damaged vessel. Then it is an uphill task to sell it because it is damaged. Nearly everyone would find the prospect of buying a damaged boat somewhat leery.

Normally buyers associated with the catering profession and similar business enterprises attend sales and get wonderful deals with boats which are in not a very dilapidated state. They normally restore the boat, put on a fresh coat of paint and now the boat can fetch a good price. On most occasions, public are extended invitation in the salvage boat sales where they make their own purchases. If you can spare some time and money, you need to make some repairs and ultimately this saves you a few thousand dollars. Media is used to advertise about salvage boat sales for the benefit of the public. Be sure to research the models and vessels and have an idea of the values and types of repair that must be completed. This would lead you to do the same work as any renovation business and have plenty of people as your future customers. Sales of craft are ideal for people who love the sea and wish for a boat, but they cannot afford the costs involved. These boats would not be very costly and thus one can afford to do all the repair work needed to put it back in original shape.

You could even buy a boat or a luxury vessel if you go to salvage boat sales. Luxury boats are often confiscated when they have been engaged in wrongful activities. These boats are then put up at auctions where it is sold to the person who bids highest and this can always be you. In most cases these vessels would have cost the first owner thousands of dollars, but are being sold at a fraction of that price for various reasons. Because the boats are not in that kind of dilapidated condition that a host of repairs have to be carried out, this is surely a very lucrative deal.

When buying a boat, ensure that you are negotiating with a dependable agent. Some fraudulent people may try to pass on a damaged boat by making it look like new with new paint etc and then claim that the boat was used only for a short time. What is worse is when some fraudulent characters push you into buying a stolen boat after doing some repainting, which also gives the boat a new identity.

Small samples of the numerous items that can be found at auctions include furniture, art, vehicles, and animals. Intimidation causes many people to avoid these events. Considering the low prices that can be charged for materials that would cost a fortune elsewhere, missing out on them is a shame. There will be many people bidding on a price of an item, not just you and one other person.

The best experiences at these places can be found by people who remember that they are there to get a great deal and attempt to negotiate the price accordingly. Simultaneously, the auctioneer is trying to continually raise the prices higher for as long as the bidders continue to express an interest. Take heart, however, in the fact that there will be many items at these events and not everyone will be interested in the same ones as you are. Looking at the items prior to bidding is highly recommended. As a public relations event, flyers are often made ahead of time in order to promote the event. Undoubtedly, getting there an hour before the event starts to look over the items will help you in the bidding process once the items reach the auction block.

It is crucial to remember that auction items do not come with a warranty. In order to forestall disappointment, any desk that you might see at an auction and want to refurnish needs to be examined before placing your bid. The buyer who skips this step might end up with a nice, expensive particle board desk, instead of a wood one. If you see an item you want, bid on it regardless of the amount of people around you doing the same. Because many areas have more than one events taking place, buyers should not worry if they lose a bid, because they will have an opportunity to bid for it at another event.

On the flip side of that coin, don’t feel pressured to keep bidding more for an item than you really want to because someone else is bidding on it and you don’t want to appear to be a loser. If you start to feel bothered by this situation at an auction, rest assured that you are not alone. A little preparation can help you avoid this pitfall, by simply setting a bidding threshold prior to the bidding and not bidding more than that amount.

Because they are fun events by themselves, a person doesn’t have to actually win anything in order to enjoy themselves at an auction. Among the many different types of events are real estate auctions and estate auctions, as well as general ones that have a host of interesting items. Many times, people go and observe the bidding process ahead of time so that when they are ready to attend and bid later, they will be ready. If you are looking for opportunities to meet new friends and engage in networking opportunities, these places will afford you those opportunities.

Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service or DRMO for short, is our defense dept. or DOD way to sell off large lots of items. Items may include clothing, recyclable material such as paper, rubber, textiles, etc. Items are sold in lots of 10 or more and this is where the Army Navy Surplus stores get their bulk clothing for resale. I have included a link direct to their website so you can see for yourself here. Good luck and do your research, you will find ways to save money and maybe sell goods through your new store or other means.

I do not run auctions from my website here, only give as much info as I can to help you find where you can go to look for auction dates etc.

There are various government entities that have periodic auctions. Finding that info to be true and correct and up to date is what I hope to help you find.

Check the link up top of the page in my article and you should be on the right road to getting auction info.

How would you like to buy the latest exercise machine that retails for $1500 for an auction price of $80.00? Late model cars for around $500.00? Large appliances for $50-$75?

It is a proven fact that government auctions have some of the best bargains known in our country right now. With economy being a bit sluggish, both government and bank repo auctions have become the place to find what you need at the right price.

We will discuss the top ten questions that most people have when looking into going to an auction, but never tried it.

1. How much stuff is available at these auctions?

There are billions of dollars of merchandise available every year that come from seizures, foreclosures, govt. downsize, govt. upgrades and the selling of the older model goods.

2. What kind of merchandise is available?

Computers, vehicles, like carpool inventory. T.V.’S, vcr’s, dvd players, trucks, heavy equipment, building supplies, telephones, answering machines, tools,

3. What kind of prices are we talking about here?

Having cars and trucks going from the range of $200.00-$500.00 is an extremely great deal for those on a budget. Some may go a bit more, but that beats the showroom price or used car dealer hassle.
Electronics go for mostly dirt cheap prices, especially in lots or groups. Having several friends chip in for the bidding on the lot lowers the individual price per unit greatly, that way you all share in the gain.

4. Where do the auction items come from?

The most common ways goods find their way to auction are…

Seizure auctions, various law enforcement seizures from drug dealers.

Surplus auctions, government agencies liquidating out of date, overstocked items.

Real Estate auctions, foreclosure auctions for land, commercial and residential property, loan defaults etc.

5. Who can attend the auctions?

Most all government and private auctions are open to the public. Some vehicle auctions may have restrictions to dealers only, but they may have an open day after the vehicles have been offered to the dealers and remained unsold, check up on that. Certain requirements are placed on government auctions, like registering to bid.

6. How do I register to bid?

Most have an age limit of minimum of 18 years old. Some have a small registration fee of $1-$3 dollars. Check out the fine print. Some have a buyers premium of %5- %10 of the value of sale, be prepared and check it out.

7. What is the condition of the items?

Most are sold as-is. That means if the truck won’t start, you will be responsible for getting it moved via tow truck or working on it at the yard. Check the rules on that. You have only so much time after winning the bid to pay for the item and getting a release form, and moving the item from the yard or face a possible storage charge, check it out.

8. Is there an inspection period?

Almost all auctions have a time where you may preview the items for sale. It may vary from one hour prior to sale or several days preview time. Be careful to not get to excited at any one item and be cool about it, an old auction trick is using spotters who watch for “big fish” coming in and ooing and aweing over a fancy truck or car, then using ghost bidders to up the bid on these people. It’s not as common or actually legal to do these days, just letting you know what has happened in the past.

9. If I buy a vehicle, can I drive it away?

Asking about running condition before you bid may answer that question, but in most cases, you will be able to drive the vehicle away after payment is secured. Once you have payment made and have the release statement, title arrangements may be at time of sale. Ask those questions beforehand. Like I said earlier, if the vehicle does not run, you may have to hire a tow truck to remove the vehicle.

10. What payment methods can be used?

Cash and cash equivalents like a cashiers check will be accepted. Check ahead of time for other payment methods. If you have several cashiers drawer checks in small amounts, then you should be fine. Travelers checks may be accepted, just check fine print before you bid.

There are many auctions going on every weekend all over our nation, it’s your time to save money in this tight economy.

I have also been a member of eBay for just about 12 years now. My info shows Member since: Dec-09-97.
eBay is a great place to take a look for single items that you may have a hard time finding. If attending a physical auction is not for you, then going online and looking for group lots or just one item may be your best bet. I look for a good feedback rating from the seller, and cross reference that with good shipping and return policy. If you have questions about an item, send a message to the seller and ask about it.
